Often the phrase Legacy is used a lot and looses its effect . The 2016 West Wiltshire Schools Dance Festival truly made its mark as a Legacy event

Now in its 11th year the Dance Festival  isn’t just about dancing ! . Year 6 Young ambassadors from local schools are asked to compere the event  as well as  Sports Leaders are asked to help provide back stage support providing valuable volunteering opportinities . That is the platform of the Dance Festival , an event which incluDance Festiavl 2016 2des so many children with unique and diverse opportunities . The entire event is about the children and for the children at every opportunity we are involving their participant , the  festival theme  chosen from pupil suggestions . In 2017 we hope to see even greater children/festival admin collaboration The theme , Dance through the Decades meant we saw some amazing dance performances , highlights including Horningshams Dance through the War including Winston Churchill,  Holbrooke and the Charleston era with fabulous outfits and Bitham Brooke  Singing in the Rain and umbrellas! We were also delighted to see  Dance Festival debuts from Warminster Prep School , Active Trowbridge & Newtown school , The Avenue and Castle Mead

hEYTESBURY dANCE FESTIVAL 2016 DanceLady & Ra catThe West Wiltshire Dance Festival is now firmly a flagship event  and is considered a role model  for other school sport partnerships , whom have used our event as a blue print for their event . The 2016 Dance festival hosted  48 schools over 900 children  and an audience of 1200 which is phenomenal ….Legacy

2016 also saw a new partnership  between  Wiltshire and Swindon Sport (WASP ) Caroline DanceLady  & West Wilts School Sports Partnership.

Caroline’s role in The Dance Festival

Caroline has been organising the WSSP Dance Festival since 2004 . The Dance Festival is an opportunity for schools to perform to a larger audience within prestigious settings of the Bath Forum. Every year I join in with the atmosphere by dressing up ! So far I’ve been the Queen , an Oscar , a Union Jack flag , and the children s favorite Tinkerbell !

About the festival

The schools perform a 4min The West Wilts SSP Dance Festival 2012 Olympic Theme ! The Forum Bathdance routine to an audience of over 400 parents and family and over 200 pupils from the other schools, as it is a festival there are no winners.

The Dance Festival has developed into the Wiltshire School Sports Partnership flagship event, for many reasons which include the fantastic venue allowing the children an opportunity to perform in a lager venue, coupled with that the experience the back stage environment and dress rehearsals.

 Simple but effective

The simple but effective format and organisation of the Dance Festival. The opportunity for any child to participate, some schools enter specific Dance Clubs whilst others enter whole classes, because of the medium of Dance and the status of completion not being there enables the children feel at ease performing and to thoroughly enjoy the complete experience
