ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR!
The traveling Fun Fair is in my local town.!Whenever the fair comes to town it brings an air of excitement and fun ! .The kids
in class find it hard to concentrate as there is a continuousness ripple of “what rides they are going on ” , what time shall we meet .
The huge, colorful mechanical rides made me think about the energy , and movement .
Get the children to suggest the different rides and stalls at the fair ..Here are a few suggestions.
The band Simply Red have a music track called Fairground , which has a fast continual beat, I find works well .
Dodgems (Bumper Cars ) . Moving in all directions scoot around the room WITHOUT touching each other. Only on teachers command are the children allowed to bump . Add tempo (slow, fast ) ,
Tea Cups (Teacup saucers on long mechanical arms ) The actions of this ride is Up down and circular . Try to get the children to focus on a flowing and smooth type action. Rising up and down
Helter Skelter . One of the tallest Fair ground rides , siding down in a spiral type movement all the way to the bottom of the ride, only to run up the steps and repeat again !”. Encourage spiraling movement and running upwards on the spot.
The Twister . In groups of 2/4 get the children to stand in a line and move in a quick and small circular action and then
reverse the action. Teamwork and coordination is required for this move .
The Bone Shaker House. As the children move around the rooms of the house, the entire house is shaking backwards and forwards , making it very difficult to walk forwards . Move around in a shaking , moving , vibrating way .
The Candy Floss Maker , Floaty , circular type actions as the Candy floss rotates in the machine
Hook the Duck. Stretching out through the arms and legs trying to reach and hook the Ducks without success ! Stationary
